Charles III has been King of England since 14 months - he acceded to the British throne on 8 September 2022, in the age of 73, following the death of his mother.
He is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, former Duke of Edinburgh.

In 1958, Charles Philip Arthur George was enthroned Prince of Wales - a title traditionally given to the eldest son or grandson of the reigning monarch. He then assisted Queen Elizabeth II in her official functions.
He also uses other titles depending on where he sits such as Duke of Rothesay, by right of the Duchy of Cornwall (in Scotland or England).
He is the longest-serving Prince of Wales (64 years).
On the death of his father, Prince Philip, on 9 April 2021, Charles of Wales became Duke of Edinburgh. His father had held the title since November 1947.
