Charles III is King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as 15 other sovereign states - called Commonwealth realms - and their territories and dependencies. He is also the head of the Commonwealth of Nations (an organization of 53 states), the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, the Duke of Normandy, the Lord of Man and the Paramount Chief of Fiji.

In 1958, Charles Philip Arthur George was enthroned Prince of Wales - a title traditionally given to the eldest son or grandson of the reigning monarch. He then assisted Queen Elizabeth II in her official functions.

He also uses other titles depending on where he sits such as Duke of Rothesay, by right of the Duchy of Cornwall (in Scotland or England).

He is the longest-serving Prince of Wales (64 years).

On the death of his father, Prince Philip, on 9 April 2021, Charles of Wales became Duke of Edinburgh. His father had held the title since November 1947.

He acceded to the British throne on September 8, 2022, on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II - at the age of 73 - and became King Charles III.

King Charles III married Lady Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral, in London.

After their separation in 1992 and the death of Diana on August 31, 1997, he married Camilla Parker Bowles, on April 9, 2005, at Windsor Guildhall, Windsor.
