Take a breath of fresh air in the sumptuous Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew Gardens in London!
They have the largest collection of living plants in the world (more than 50,000 species), distributed in 8 greenhouses and galleries - all dedicated to botanical art, research and conservation of plants.
Listed as a UNESCO world heritage, these 120 hectares of gardens - which are located 30 minutes from the city center by metro, in the Richmond district - invite you for a day or a half-day to discover its 8 greenhouses (including the famous Temperate House and Palm House) and galleries, its 10-story Chinese pagoda (The Great Pagoda), its 200-meter-long footbridge perched more than 18 meters above high, and its palace (Kew Palace).
Another curiosity: its giant structure The Hive - 17 meters high and composed of 170,000 pieces of aluminum and 1,000 LEDs - which represents the relationship between plants and bees by imitating the visual and sound effects of a real hive.
A visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew Gardens is appreciable in any season. Indeed, whatever the time of year, there are always species of flowering plants: wild hyacinths in spring, roses and water lilies in summer, etc.
From the exotic rainforest of the Palm House to the giant water lilies of the Waterlily House, including the 10 climate zones of the Princess of Wales Conservatory: the botanical gardens of Kew Gardens will soon have no secrets for you!
The Christmas lights at Kew Gardens (Christmas at Kew) and the sound and light show on the Palm House are events not to be missed!
The gardens are fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Several cafes and restaurants are present on the site and serve hot meals, sandwiches and drinks throughout the day.
