Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza: The Baron's Centenary. 1921/2021

To mark the birth of one of the most important cultural patrons of the 20th century, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza pays tribute to Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza, who loaned and ultimately sold his immense collection of 19th and 20th-century masterpieces to the Spanish state – a collection which would become the museum's own foundation. The celebrations will be accompanied by an extensive program of special events and exhibitions – both virtual and in-person – which will celebrate the extraordinary life of the Dutch-born Swiss citizen, whose Hungarian title and German fortune are inextricably linked with the Spanish art landscape of today.
