Built during the medieval era, Romanians from the Schei district – and mainly powerful merchants who traded from Moldova and Muntenia to Syria and Egypt – offered donations to help start education centers. * One of these centers is the First Romanian School. It taught people how to read and write Romanian in 1583, and villages around Transylvania would save to send a student there. Now a museum, it's home to the first Romanian Bible and some 6,000 books which were used in the school.
