More info

Built during the medieval era, Romanians from the Schei district – and mainly powerful merchants who traded from Moldova and Muntenia to Syria and Egypt – offered donations to help start education centers. One of these centers is the First Romanian School. It taught people how to read and write Romanian in 1583, and villages around Transylvania would save to send a student there. Now a museum, it's home to the first Romanian Bible and some 6,000 books which were used in the school.
