Can my child travel alone on public transport?

If your child is over 10 years old and has a valid transport ticket (11- 15 ZIP Oyster photocard or 16+ ZIP Oyster photocard), it can travel alone on the whole London's public transport network.

Tube, London Overground, DLR trains and TfL Rail Services trains

From 5 to 10 years old, children can travel alone if they have the card 5-10 Zip Oyster photocard. Otherwise, he must be accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket.

An adult with a valid ticket can accompany a maximum of 4 children without a ticket.

Buses and trams

From 5 to 10 years old, the child can travel alone, without a ticket - at any time of the day and night.

If your child looks older than a 10 year old, it is advisable to get them a 5-10 ZIP Oyster photocard.
