(1 autre option disponible)David Kynaston’s remarkable series “Tales of the New Jerusalem” - a history of Britain since 1945 - now reaches the early 1960s with his new volume “A Northern Wind: Britain 1962-65”.
As he discusses this evening here at Hatchards, these few years saw seismic changes from the arrival of the Beatles to the Profumo Affair which rocked the Tory government out of office, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Big Freeze, the assassination of JFK and the funeral of Winston Churchill.
As “A Northern Wind” draws on diaries, newspapers and first-hand recollections, so this evening will be one of national history, life story and anecdote, bringing memories of the past vividly to life.
David will be in conversation with fellow historian Virginia Nicholson whose books include, most recently, "How Was It For You? Women, Sex, Love and Power in the 1960s".
Do join us if you can – all welcome!
*Tickets include £5 off the purchase of "A Northern Wind" this evening
