An evening with... Capreolus Distillery's Garden Swift Gin
For those not in the know, Capreolous Distillery is one of the hidden wonders of the world… Warm lights glows at the bottom of a Cotswolds garden, with little hints of copper gleaming into the dusk. Jars of fruit macerate under leaf canopies in every corner. It’s mad and beautiful - the home of an inventor from a children’s book, except this particular character, Barney Wilczak, is making some of the finest spirits this side of the equator.
We’ve manage to tempt Barney out of his shed for a night at Gin Foundry HQ, where he’ll tell you everything he knows about terroir. His gin, Garden Swift, is a divine, complex wonder (and scoops up literally every gong imaginable), but he’ll also talk you through his magnificent brandy collection and help you train your tongue to pick out these locally grown ingredients from within the gin. This is a rare chance to meet a small batch, highly innovative maker, who understands every step of the process, to planting, picking and distilling the fruits of the land.
You can expect: as welcome G&T, brandy samples, gin samples and a cocktail.
Welcome to the Gin Foundry tasting room!
Gin Foundry is known as the online home of gin, but lately we've been translating our passion into something tangible, hosting in-depth, super-geeky tastings at our HQ. From July onwards, we're inviting some of our favourite gins to get in on the action.
Each week a different brand will take over our tasting room to host an intimate group of guests, holding extraordinarily informative tastings in which you get to sit back and enjoy some deliciously crafty gin whilst hearing about how it came to be in the first place, who's behind it, how it's made and how to serve it.
Each session will vary wildly as different ginsmiths take control, but there's one thing we can guarantee: Tickets include a free G&T on arrival and multiple samples of gin during the session. Some hosts will be serving mini cocktails as they lead guests through their journey, while others will serve up money-can't-buy liquids to be enjoyed during the evening.
