mercredi 15 juillet de 10:00 à 11:30
At The Brain Tumour Charity, we know that caring for a loved one with a brain tumour diagnosis, is often a difficult and isolating experience, but that speaking to others in a similar situation to you, can make a real difference.
On Wednesday 15th July, at 11am, we are holding a Digital Peer Support Group, to give you a chance to connect with other carers and loved ones, that can relate to your experience.
What should I expect?
If you are already a member of The Brain Tumour Charity Facebook Carers Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/470978559740874/), then you will know how much support, advice and solidarity is shared within this group and the difference that this can make to the experience of a carer.
This new Digital Support Group is a chance to offer that same peer-to-peer support to each other, but face to face. It will be an informal meet up with a small group of people, to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate and the opportunity to share the highs and lows of life as a carer, with others that can relate.
Where are we meeting?
We will be using Zoom, a video meeting platform, to hold the digital meeting. Don’t worry if you’ve never used Zoom before, we’ll send you full, easy to follow instructions to get you started and it’s completely free! You can access Zoom via a computer, phone or tablet, though we would recommend that the best experience is usually via a computer. (The bigger the screen, the more people you can see at one time.)
Please don’t worry about…
• Not wanting to be on video, you can connect using just audio so no one can see you but you can still take part.
• You’ve never used Zoom before – we’ll send you all the instructions you need and if you get stuck we’ll be on hand to help, we can even do a test Zoom chat before the event if you would find it helpful!
• “I am a private person and don’t like talking about myself…” – This is a relaxed space of supportive peers where you can choose how much or how little you share about your own experience.
• I’m not very confident in new situations – don’t worry, you can sit back and watch or listen, if you would prefer or dip in and out depending on what feels right for you.
Please note: All attendees must be aged 18 and above.
If you have any questions, or would like to know more please contact the Support Team on email@example.com or by calling 0808 800 0004
The Brain Tumour Charity is a UK based charity. We welcome carers outside of the UK joining our digital peer support groups, however, it is important to note unfortunately we do not have the facilities to translate conversations for any non-English speakers.
