Fundación MAPFRE Madrid

Few artists found ways to express themselves or inspire others the way Miró did. Fundación MAPFRE Madrid – Sala Recoletos brings together 65 works by the artist and gives a complete approximation of his oeuvre as a whole, highlighting the recurring motifs that continue to appear during his lifetime: stars, suns, moons, birds, and the female form. Alongside Miró's work are five structures by his contemporary and friend, the American sculptor Alexander Calder. Never one to rest on his previous success, the works on display show the various influences that played their part in his works, from Asian calligraphy to urban graffiti.
