Fado Maior do Porto: Intimate Fado Concert

Attend a fado show in one of Porto’s oldest taverns in the historic quarter of Miragaia. The performance takes place in a small room, with artists playing without microphones and close to the audience. Portugal has two fado traditions, and this is the only venue where you can hear both in one show, each performed by its own group of musicians. The show begins with Coimbra fado, a tradition created over a century ago by Portuguese university students. It has its own instruments, its own repertoire, and an energy that surprises most visitors who have never heard it before. The second part features traditional fado, the style recognized by UNESCO World Heritage in 2011. Raw, emotional, and powerful. No two shows are the same. The artists don’t follow a setlist and adapt to the audience and the moment.
