Sail to the Benagil caves in a pirate ship. Start at Portimão, at Cais Vasco da Gama, and navigate the Rio Arade. Pass the fisherman's village of Ferragudo, the 15th-century Dom João castle, and Praia Grande de Ferragudo to reach the open Atlantic Ocean. * Head east to see Praia do Pintadinho, the Ponta do Altar lighthouse, Praia dos Caneiros, and the secluded Praia da Afurada.
