Places of Worship
Access to the National Pantheon

The National Pantheon of Lisbon took a long time to build - 284 years in fact! It was declared the *National Pantheon* in 1916 and today, many former presidents of the Republic of Portugal are buried here. * Pay your respects to them, as well as other prominent personalities on your visit, including Humberto Delgado, a great opponent of the Salazar dictatorship, Vasco da Gama, Luís de Camões and fado artist Amália Rodrigues. The panoramic views of Alfama from the terrace are worthy of a few photos, too.
