Historical Buildings
Balbi Crypt is a block-long testament to Rome's pioneering past. Visitors can examine the lives of ancient tenants of this city block, from the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages. Part of the National Museum of Rome, it was once connected to one of the smallest theatres in Ancient Rome. The museum displays archaeological objects used in daily life, and fans of the macabre can explore the subterranean crypt and cisterns. After your visit, head back up for a slice of pizza – if you can stomach it!
