Templar Complex of San Bevignate

Perugia, the capital of Umbria, is home to the magnificent Templar Complex of San Bevignate. The Knights Templar were a Catholic military order founded in 1119. They were known for being the elite fighting force of their day and they left behind a pretty impressive legacy, including frescoes dating back to the 1260s. * Also see the Roman ruins below the medieval church of San Bevignate, which date back to the first century BC.
